Below are typical guidelines used in snow/ice weather related issues to determine if a cheerleading practice should be cancelled due to inclement weather: Practices at School Facilities: *If school is cancelled or dismisses early on a day your team is scheduled to practice at a school due to snow/ice...your team will not have practice. *If there was a 2-hour delay and roads seem fine at 4pm and no further snow or re-freezing is expected, your team will have practice. Please check for an e-mail from an advisor between 4:00pm-4:30pm with clarification. Practice at Viper Pit or USA Stars: If on the local TV channels – under the business closings you hear the applicable gym (Viper Pit or USA Stars) is closed, of course practice would be cancelled. (If the gym is closed due to the weather, we will not be charged.) Additional Notes: If roads seem too bad or are forecasted to become bad, practice will be cancelled and advisors will send an email within two hours of the scheduled practice or utilize the team phone chain to notify all families.
Safety is of course a concern, and we will try to use our best judgment when making the decision on whether to go ahead with practice or to cancel. Two people can drive the same road...one may find the road to be treacherous, while the other thinks it is fine. If practice has not been cancelled, and you think the roads are too bad to travel, please call an advisor. **When an advisor sends a notification regarding a practice cancellation, please RSVP to that e-mail. If a response is not received, an advisor will call you at your primary contact number. **Advisors will try to give you as much notice as possible and catch you before you are en-route to practice...but if you aren't sure, please check e-mail or call an advisor. |
